Our greenhouse farms are located within city limits for easy access to consumers and businesses across Africa

Produce is cultivated using 95% less water

LOCATION

Optimizing the food transportation pipeline by locating our indoor farms within city limits.

DETOX

Eliminating the use of pesticides and herbicides that contaminate air water, and crops thereby, eliminating food, water, and airborne diseases that are common challenges in Africa.

NEXT GEN

Enriching, empowering, and educating the next generations of African farmers and scientists through the creation of thousands of jobs, vocational training, internship, and scholarships to youths annually.

Six times greater yield than traditional farming using less land space and resources for greater productivity

Zero insect infestation with zero use of herbicides and pesticides

A sustainable and environmentally friendly farming system

Goal

Our goal is to leverage advances in the agriculture industry and continue to advance control environment agriculture (CEA) with innovative and cutting-edge technologies, and to develop the African economy through local and intercontinental crop production, sustainable agriculture practices, and safe processing and distribution of produce to regions in Africa, as well as creation of thousands of jobs to attain a healthier and wealthier continent.

Vision

Our vision is to develop the largest CEA company in Africa with year-round vegetable, fruit, and staple food production, to meet the daily nutritional needs of the African population, eliminating the dire and growing challenges of famine, food insecurity, food and waterborne diseases, and poverty in the continent with solutions for importation and distribution.

Our primary focus is to build a reliable, resilient, sustainable, innovative, and dynamic indoor farming industry in Africa to meet the needs of its rapidly growing population.

Meet our Founder

Dr. Christina Timi Igono is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Eight Orbit Urban Farms (EOUF) LLC. Dr. Igono founded EOUF in October 2020 while working concurrently on her Ph.D. at the University of Nevada Reno and working as the Chief Science Officer for Advanced Carbonate Technologies LLC. The inspiration for EOUF came to her while working on a greenhouse rice study, where she tested the effects of calcium oxide ore on rice growth, soil fertility, soil biochemistry, and soil microbiology in a controlled environment. The research project was a tremendous success.

Dr. Igono was born in Lagos Nigeria. In 2006, she was offered an athletic scholarship at Alabama A&M University where she played Division I and II college soccer for four years. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences in 2010. She started her graduate studies in 2011 and earned her master’s degree in Plant and Soil Science in 2014. During her Ph.D. degree program at the University of Nevada Reno, Dr. Igono won an award for her research work on the effects of fire on soil chemistry in cold-desertland. She has over 17 years of research experience in soil biogeochemistry, soil microbiology, soil fertility, soil greenhouse gas fluxes, and agricultural and environmental sustainability. From 2020-2022, Dr. Igono served as the Chief Science Officer and Research Consultant for Advanced Carbonate Technologies LLC, a limestone mining company in northern Nevada and California.

Dr. Christina Timi Igono

Her experience in agricultural, soil, and environmental research granted her opportunities to work in different ecosystems, including greenhouses, silvopasture system, grasslands, humid farmlands, pasturelands, semi-arid rangelands, and semi-arid agricultural rice farmlands, in northern and southern Alabama, northern Nevada, and California. Her research studies encompass soil physical and chemical properties, soil microbial organisms, crop and plant growth, soil greenhouse gas emissions, and their interactions. Invest

in the future.

Our startup company is seeking pre-seed funds for the building and operation of our first high-tech innovative indoor farm on 539,000 square feet (approximately 5.3 hectares) of land in the Federal Capital Territory Abuja in Nigeria. Our innovative indoor data-driven farm will use hydroponic and aeroponic farming systems, managed, and operated using artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, nutrient float technologies (NFTs), low-cost energy sources (i.e., sunlight, renewable energy), 95% less water, limited resources, zero herbicides and pesticides, and ensure little to zero carbon emission.

Eight Orbit Urban Farms will produce fresh, organic, better-tasting, and nutritious crops using dynamic, high-tech, and AI-engineered hydroponic and aeroponic farming systems to achieve year-round production, processing, sales, and distribution of fresh produce for easy access to local communities, general African markets, as well as exports to countries around the world. We are on a mission to feed Africa, and investors from around the world are welcome to be a part of this revolution . . .

News & Media

December 2023

We are happy to announce that our founder and CEO Dr. Christina T. Igono obtained her Ph.D. degree in Environmental Science from the University of Nevada Reno in December 2023.

Dr. Igono couldn’t be more thankful to God for his grace and mercies, the team of advisors, and mentors that guided her through her doctoral degree program. She said the experience was far from easy but it was worth every bit of the sacrifice.

She is now focused on dishing out research articles from all the numerous projects she worked on during her graduate school days. “It’s such a blessing to be finally done with school,” says Dr. Igono.

May 2023

Our company has cleared the site for our first hydroponic farm in Kuje district of Abuja in Nigeria. The initiative was administered by CEO Dr. Igono and implemented by our project managers in Abuja, Mr. Derick Igono and Austin June. Our current land is measured at 538,000 square feet, which is approximately 5.3 hectares. According to the architectural layout, the site is designed to accommodate four indoor farming facilities, two warehouses, a building for research and development, offices, and a factory. The construction is slated for completion and commencement of operation of its first project no later than 2024.

To actualize this plan, the company is working earnestly to bring in private and public investors and partners from all over the world.
